FLAC(Free Lossless Audio Codec)은 2000년도 쯤에 Josh Coalson이 개발한 무손실 압축 형식의 오디오 파일이다.

대한민국에서는 지니 뮤직이 최초로 FLAC 음원을 팔았다.

솔직히 말해서 MP3, WMA, OGG, M4a보다는 음질이 좋습니다. MP3, WMA, OGG, M4a는 FLAC이나 AAC보다는 음원 손실이 심하잖아요.
